Broomfield has been providing excellent schooling in Kew since 1876. This is always the heart of our work and our focus for all our future development. Since 1990 we have invested over £1.5 million pounds in building the two buildings in Harrow House, in modernising Broomfield House, and building our new school dining room and our classroom block in Broomfield House Annexe.
In 2007 were delighted to take on the ownership of Kew’s oldest Montessori school, Kew Montessori, based at St Luke’s House, five minutes walk away on Sandycombe Road in Kew. This has enabled us to offer afternoon care for our own Pre-Kindergarten pupils in partnership with Kew Montessori, as well as enabling our staff to stay in tune with the Montessori methods and philosophy for nurturing and educating young children.
In the future we are focussing more on enhancing our teaching and learning, providing ever more individualisation for every child in the school. This will see further use of our energetic staff to work in small groups and with individuals to ensure all our children realise their potential. It will also see a further investment in sets of wireless laptops for use in classrooms. In September 2010, we were delighted to establish our new partnership with Brentford FC on our new sports curriculum, who are providing specialist and high level coaches for football across the school. During the summer of 2011 we developed our Early Years classrooms with new glazed play areas and classroom furniture.
